North Port's adult basketball league is back and bigger, with registration open as of Wednesday for a 2026 season that will field up to 14 teams across two age divisions.

The league, run by North Port Parks & Recreation, returned in 2025 after a hiatus. Recreation Program Coordinator Alex Romero said the comeback "exceeded expectations" and this strong demand drove the expansion.

Season expands to 14 teams after strong 2025 return

The 2026 season will run from Aug. 18 through Oct. 21, with games played 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Morgan Family Community Center gymnasium, 6207 W. Price Blvd., North Port.

16+ and 40+ divisions, 11 players per roster

The league offers a 16-and-over division and a 40-and-over division. For the 40-and-over championship, every player on a team's roster must be 40 or older.

Teams can carry up to 11 players. Registration costs $400 per team and is first-come, first-served until all 14 slots fill. Teams must provide their own uniforms.

Sign up in person at two North Port locations

Registration must be completed in person at one of two locations:

  • Morgan Family Community Center, 6207 W. Price Blvd., North Port
  • George Mullen Activity Center, 1602 Kramer Way, North Port

Teams must review, sign and submit the league's rules packet at the time of registration. The full rules and additional information are available at NorthPortFL.gov/AdultBasketballLeague.

Seven-week season ends in an eight-team playoff

The regular season runs seven weeks, followed by a top-eight-seed single-elimination playoff bracket.

Romero can be reached at [email protected] for questions about the league. With 14 spots available on a first-come basis, teams that want a place on the court should register before the cap is reached.
