Sarasota Football Finishes 7-3, Riverview Enters Playoff Picture at 8-2

Sarasota finished the regular season 7-3, the Sailors' first seven-win campaign since 2005 and their first winning record since 2021.

The milestone comes in head coach Amp Campbell's third year leading the program. Junior quarterback Hudson West powered the turnaround, throwing for 3,162 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions. West completed 66.2% of his passes, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune's final Super 10 rankings published Nov. 4.

Sarasota closed the regular season with a 41-8 win over Belen Jesuit.

West Leads Sarasota's Turnaround

West, a 6-foot-4 junior, has drawn more than 25 college offers, including Florida, Florida State, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Louisville, according to an Oct. 30 Herald-Tribune profile. The newspaper reported that West earned a fourth recruiting star in September and was ranked the nation's No. 10 quarterback by 247Sports.

"He's a kid that gets people around him to elevate their level of play," Campbell told the Herald-Tribune in its Oct. 30 profile of West.

West didn't do it alone. Receivers Jayden Rivers and Evan Larrick combined for 26 touchdowns and 2,012 receiving yards. Sophomore running back Darrell Yarborough added 348 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 58 carries. Cameron Houston contributed 488 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 91 carries.

Riverview Finishes 8-2

The Riverview Rams finished fourth in the final Super 10 at 8-2, closing the regular season with a 30-13 home win over Santaluces.

Senior quarterback Logan Carrillo completed 11 of 19 passes for 267 yards. Running back Justin Flores rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. Senior Gabarre Farlin added an interception.

Playoff Matchups Await Official Brackets

According to projected MaxPreps brackets cited by the Naples Daily News, Riverview could enter the Class 6A Region 3 playoffs as the top seed against Haines City, while Sarasota could enter as the sixth seed against Lennard.

Those matchups remain unofficial pending the Florida High School Athletic Association's release of the final playoff brackets, scheduled for Nov. 7.
