Sarasota City Manager Karie Friling’s 100-Day Report proposes changes to city operations, public communication and long-term planning.
Friling publicly shared the report through the Coalition of City Neighborhood Associations on Oct. 16. She said her first months included more than 350 meetings and conversations with employees, commissioners, residents, neighborhood associations, business leaders and community partners.
The report’s themes include organizational stability, employee development, financial stewardship, infrastructure and stormwater resilience, parks and open space, public safety, economic development and community engagement, Friling wrote.
The report is a framework for setting priorities, rather than a commitment to carry out every initiative immediately. Friling said the city must align its work with staffing capacity and commission direction.
A Your Observer report described recommendations to consolidate consent agendas, address technical questions before meetings and change the timing of public comment. The publication also identified proposals for a long-range strategic plan, a citizen academy and clearer public reporting of city progress.
These are proposals described in the report. The sources reviewed here do not establish which recommendations the City Commission has adopted.
