Nathan Benderson Park's free Halloween celebration returns Tuesday, Oct. 27, with nearly 80 candy booths, a haunted Finish Tower and live entertainment on Regatta Island.

Trick or Treat on the Lake runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and draws thousands of costumed families each year. This year, organizers split the candy trail into smaller villages to cut down on long lines, according to WWSB.

"This year, it's getting even bigger and better than ever," said Marnie Buchsbaum, marketing director at Nathan Benderson Park.

Sarasota County is turning the park's Finish Tower into a family-friendly haunted house. Sarah Bunkley, recreation and neighborhood parks division manager for Sarasota County, told WWSB that a waiting area will be available so parents of younger children can send older kids through and meet them at the end.

Local businesses will staff the themed booths, handing out candy to costumed kids. Beyond the candy trail, families can catch student bands, Thriller dance performances, inflatable games and photo stations.

Several vehicles are getting the Halloween treatment, too. SunCoast Blood Centers is bringing a haunted bloodmobile. A Breeze bus, haunted boats and a "creepy clean" dumpster round out the lineup.

Admission and parking are free, thanks to a partnership between Nathan Benderson Park and Sarasota County. Alpha Law Group returns as presenting sponsor for a third year.

Sarasota County Schools posted on X that families can trick-or-treat with the Sarasota County Schools Police Department at the event.

Organizers encourage families to arrive between 4:30 and 5 p.m. to avoid traffic and parking congestion. Costumes are encouraged for all ages.
